As long as I’m posting videos talking about art, please watch this gem.
Hello folks. Sorry about the lack of art in the past month or so. I’ve got a few studies and a somewhat ambitious instructional video in the works, so my time has been divided but cool things are to come out of it.
I follow the Extra Credits show pretty regularly. This week they made an excellent point on adding elements for the sake of a brand, and how it stifles some of the potential of good, even incredible experiences in games. Normally I don’t post too many videos like this on my blog but it eloquently addresses a lot of important material to consider in and outside of game design. Every element you add to a work affects its meaning. Future film directors, painters, writers, creators- I think you can glean a lot from this video.
On another point, this is a fantastic series, and whether you have a passing interest or professional focus in video games at all, you should make it a point to watch all 145 (wow) extremely concise and informative videos they have on their website

Or you know, maybe at least 10 or 20 or so.
The Rules of Storytelling as I understand it
1. Every moment serves a purpose
2. Moments begin, progress, and end
3. Things change, something is said
In the end what’s important is how it feels.
